Railfans and Cuban train lovers — the wait is finally over! 🎉Tomorrow, Saturday, July 12th, 2025 at 10:00 AM, we’re officially launching the first playable release in the Cuba Train Simulator project: the legendary TGM8km, a Russian-built diesel-hydraulic locomotive that’s been a workhorse in Cuba’s industrial and shunting operations.
This marks a major milestone: our first fully functional and public-ready asset for Train Simulator Classic. And yes — it’s ready to run on your tracks!

🛠About the TGM8km
Nickname: Lavadora Rusa (Russian Washing Machine)
Manufacturer:Â Lyudinovsky Locomotive Plant
Origin:Â Russia
Year Built:Â 2018
Total Units in Cuba:Â 60 currently in service (out of 75 ordered from manufacturer Sinara)
Fleet Numbers: 312001 – 312060 (units 312059 and 312060 belong to the Antillana de Acero Steel Company)
Active:Â 60
Retired:Â 0 (although unit 312002 is reportedly beyond repair)
Transmission:Â Diesel-hydraulic
Power Output:Â 1,200 hp
Top Speed:Â 80 km/h
Despite being a recent addition to the Cuban railway, the TGM8km’s outdated technology and questionable reliability have earned it the ironic nickname "Lavadora Rusa" among Cuban railroad workers. The fact that such low-speed, diesel-hydraulic locomotives are considered Cuba’s most modern acquisition is a clear reflection of the current decline of the nation’s railway system.
Nevertheless, with the Chinese locomotives nearing extinction, the TGM8km bears the heavy responsibility of keeping the few remaining trains in Cuba running.

Thanks to the dedication of this talented team, we’re able to offer a professional-grade locomotive, fully functional and optimized for the Cuba Train Simulator experience.
